In the world of Kickstarter game projects, it's not unusual for projects to go unreleased for years at a time, with a handful of false alerts thrown in. This often leaves backers frustrated, as development periods stretch on for years with no real updates, eventually often leading to threats, accusations of con artistry, and demands for a refund. Thankfully, the horror-survival title Visage has so far avoided this fate, and has now provided proof of its authenticity with its release as an Early Access Title on Steam. For those unfamiliar with the title, Visage is a project inspired by the late, great Silent Hills P.T. that astounded, amazed, and eventually aggravated many gamers several years back when Konami cancelled its development. In the wake of the revolutionary piece, a wide arrangement of similar projects sprang up, hoping to capitalize on its novel style of scary content, most notably Allison Road. Where that project failed however, Visage is now in sight of the finish line, just in time for Halloween. While not technically a finished product, the title has so far garnered a dearth of positive reviews hailing it as one of the scariest games to come out of the indie market in years. Drawing on the power of photo-realistic graphics and dead-silence dread, the game explores the haunting history of a suburban house known for bringing misery and murder to those that dare to take up residence in its walls. The game uses randomly-generated paranormal events to keep the experience fresh for subsequent playthroughs, while letting its superb atmosphere and mystery carry the main experience. If you're looking for something extra-spooky this October, you're not likely to find better. Plus, if you pick it up now, you get 20% off, and the full version comes to you free when it's released. If it helps, think of it as a pre-order that lets you support the developers, and which you can take back if you don't like it (unlike most such schemes). Either way, you win!
